Transforming the Future of Adoption Education and Parent Support
We’re not just a resource—we’re a movement.
Our Mission
Adoption isn’t just an event—it’s a lifelong journey. We ensure adoptive families thrive by celebrating each child’s full identity. Through education, advocacy, and support, we empower parents to foster genuine connections rooted in empathy and love.
What We Do
At Identity, we’re committed to equipping families with innovative tools, compassionate guidance, and a deeper understanding of adoptee experiences. By centering adoptee voices, we help parents create homes where every child feels fully seen, heard, and valued.
We believe making children feel seen, heard, and valued means:
Seen
Making sure adoptees feel seen and understood as their whole selves—honoring every part of their identity, story, and journey.
Heard
Ensuring adoptees feel safe to express their feelings and struggles openly, even when those emotions relate to adoption itself.
Valued
Celebrating adoptees for all of who they are, both before and after adoption, and creating a space where they feel unconditionally loved and accepted.
Founded by an Adoptee
Identity was founded out of the experiences of a transracial adoptee who faced the complexities of adoption and identity firsthand.
Isaac was adopted at the age of two by a white couple and grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. While his childhood was filled with love and support, he often struggled with understanding his identity—both as a Black child in a white family and as an adoptee.
Throughout his life, Isaac noticed the unique challenges that adoptees face, from navigating questions about belonging and identity to overcoming the complexities of adoption loss.
His own struggles with finding his place in the world inspired Isaac to advocate for more resources and support for adoptive families of all kinds.
Led and fueled by lived experience.
We are a team of adoptees, adoption professionals, therapists, and advocates. We are wildly passionate about creating the best resources and support for adoptive and foster families.
